Banana Cupcake Ideas

My dad’s birthday is coming up and I’m already thinking about what I’m going to bake him. He loves his bananas. Seriously, he really loves bananas. So I want to make banana cupcakes.
For Father’s Day I made Martha Stewart’s Roasted Banana Cupcakes with Honey-Cinnamon Frosting. Side Note – I got the recipe from her Cupcakes book but many of the recipes in that are available for free on MS’s website. Anyway the cupcakes were good but not great. I wanted them to be more banana-y and some people thought the honey in the frosting tasted weird.
So for his birthday, I’m searching for a new recipe. I did some searching and I’ve found some interesting options.
- Martha Stewart’s Banana Cupcakes with Caramel Buttercream
- Schweet N Savory’s Banana Cupcakes with Cream CheeseĀ Frosting -
- 6 Bittersweet’s Banana Cupcakes with Chocolate Filling and Peanut Butter Frosting
- Rachael Ray’s Caramel Banana Cupcakes
- Banana Cupcakes with Dark Chocolate Chunks
- Love & Olive Oil’s Caramel Banana Cupcakes
- Cake Journal’s Best Banana Cupcakes
I also discovered that the ingredient for Cupcake Hero for September was bananas! So there’s lots of delicious looking banana cupcakes in the Cupcake Hero September Round Up (including a few already on this list).
The banana caramel recipes are intriguing. If you’ve ever had banana creme brulee you know it’s a delicious combination! His birthday is not until the 10th so I’ve got a week or so to decide.
