Behold the Batter Blaster

posted December 6, 2009 in baking [no comments]

IMG_1150I have been secretly coveting Batter Blaster since I spotted it in the refrigerator cases in the local grocery store but it’s $6 for a slightly-larger-than-whipped-cream sized can.  But yesterday it was on sale! So I bought it and made some pancakes.

You shake the can up and squirt it out like whipped cream. It has a star tip so it’s even looks like kinda thick beige whipped cream. You can sorta try to make shapes but it definitely spreads a bit.  The first batch came out totally flat. The second was a little better and by the last one I was able to get fluffy-enough pancakes. But I definitely get better and more consistent results using Bisquick.

IMG_1153I ultimately gave these a big thumbs down. They cooked really inconsistently and tasted weird. They had a strange sweet almost citrus like after taste. If quick pancakes are your game I think you definitely get better results using the “just add water” mixes.

    • Just baked 5 dozen holiday cupcakes.
    • I'm now the proud owner of a Golding Pearl No 11 press!
    • I ordered 100 cupcakes boxes today. $47 with inserts. Sure beats spending $7 for 3 at a crafts store.
    • @splityarn I think I saw small silver and white (and pink) ones in Michaels.
    • Got a box of goodies from @bakeitpretty yesterday. There will be lollipop making this weekend!
